Lequin-Colin, Bourgogne Pinot Noir, 2020

Deep ruby red, juicily black-fruited, mildly rustic but also rounded.  Classic example with sappy freshness, light tannins and a little structure. 

From a very well-sited south-east facing 1er Cru on the border with Chassagne- Montrachet. All the wine goes into barrel, but only 10% new. No pigéage (punching down) this vintage. Great value.

This 9 hectare family domaine dates back over 300 years and has a fantastic range of vineyards derived from the marriage of the Lequins from Santenay and the Colins from Chassagne-Montrachet. Relaxed and charming, François Lequin makes a well presented range of clean, precise and expressive wines. Although clearly settled on his style, François is moving towards organic methods in the vineyard which he feels helps the expression of terroir. This thoughtful respect for tradition allied to contemporary methods yields results which are truly spectacular.
